In August 2026, Ukraine continued strengthening its integrated border management system, focusing on alignment with EU standards, digitalisation of procedures and border infrastructure development. A major milestone was the adoption of the draft new Customs Code in its first reading. Meanwhile, passenger traffic across the western border remained high, increasing by approximately 3% compared to July.

Ukraine’s foreign trade turnover reached $82.2 billion in January–July, up 19% year-on-year. Digitalisation efforts included the expanded use of body cameras and tablets during customs inspections, alongside further development of the eCherha electronic queue system and online services. Border infrastructure upgrades also progressed at the Porubne–Siret and Kelmentsi–Larga crossing points, while construction began on new EU-supported truck waiting areas along the Polish border.
